Maybe I should stop trying new things considering today’s photo and yesterday’s. Yesterday’s photo was potentially a poor judgment call because I don’t think orange photographs well against black, and I think I was a bit tired after prepping for the shot which included actually glazing the cake in addition to making the cocktail with no set recipe as is the case most (all?) days.
As for today, well… I was trying to do a panoramic shot which I’ve not done except with my point-and-shoot that has a nifty function for doing them, but today I used my DSLR and a ball head tripod which meant losing a lot of information due to tilt and other nonsense. Now I know to use my old tripod that has a million knobs, and I think that’s what I’ll try tomorrow. You can’t learn unless you take risks, right?
Anyway, regardless of the photography, today’s drink is super tasty and inspired by Citrus Salad with Strawberries and Pomegranate. Pinkies WAY up, y’all!

In a 16 oz glass, pour ½ oz grenadine and ½ oz strawberry liqueur.
Carefully add chunky ice. Doing it in this order will ensure a beautifully crisp and thick layer of red at the bottom of the glass.
Next pour ½ oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 1-1½ oz Vodka, and the juice of half a lemon.
Top with grapefruit juice.
Garnish with a grapefruit slice and mint.
Serve with a straw.
