Soy Chai Latte

Oh snap! Last night I saw an Instructable on how to make perfect hash browns, and I was immediately craving some. CRAVING! With cheese, jalapenos, and chili.

Or in Waffle House lingo: Double peppered, covered, and topped.

And I looooove Waffle House hash browns. Unfortunately, the Waffle Houses nearby have all given me… issues. Back in Tennessee, I have no problems with any of the Waffle Houses, so when I’m back home, I go there daily. Whatever the time of day, it’s always hash browns, and my husband is amazing because he managed to serve up a plate of hash browns that were so, so tasty. I wanted to keep eating and eating and eating, but I have stuff to do today and can’t fall comatose into hash brown bliss.

Or maybe I do? Or maybe I’m a freak for loving hash browns so much?

Back on topic…

Like I said, I used to work at Starbucks which is how I got addicted to iced soy chai lattes, so today I decided to turn it into a cocktail using only liquors and liqueurs to spice the drink.

Recipe:

Heat ¼ cup vanilla soy milk to near boiling and steep a black tea bag for 2-3 minutes. You might want to add a tbsp of sugar if like ’em sweet.

Pour into 16 oz glass filled with chunky ice and add 2 oz spice rum, ½ oz cinnamon schnapps, and ½ oz Cointreau. The Cointreau is to add some brightness and mimic cardamon.

Top with more vanilla soy milk.

Serve with a straw.
