Winter Fruit Salsa

Chances are that from the title of this cocktail, you might be a bit alarmed at the thought of a salsa cocktail, but no worries – it’s tasty. Just think of it as a pomegranate, apple, and lime cocktail with an herbal infusion. I’d call it that, but that’s a long title and doesn’t give proper credit to the recipe that inspired me and came from Robin’s blog, Knead to Cook.

I’m still experimenting with lighting and trying to not go crazy with the editing, and sometimes it’s hard to hold back – I just have to mess with stuff until it’s terrible and really need to remember that gentle hands make for good photos as well.

Yesterday I certainly wasn’t gentle, and I’m sure I’ll regret ever posting those photos. And I’m pretty sure I’ll regret posting these down the road just as I’ve done with photos from a few years ago. You can’t learn without trying, and it’s difficult to blog about cocktails without photos. So I’ll have to forgive myself, which is an important lesson in itself.

Back on topic…

Like I said, this cocktail is inspired by Winter Fruit Salsa, and it’s tangy and sweet and fizzy and different. I’m fairly sure this won’t be a divisive drink, so please give it a whirl!

But if you’re serving it to guests, call it a “pomegranate, apple, and lime cocktail with an herbal infusion” – it might be an easier sales pitch.

Recipe:

In a Collins glass filled with crushed ice, pour ½ oz grenadine, ½ oz 99 Apples, 1 oz tequila, and fresh lime juice.

Top with sparkling water.

Garnish with cilantro and serve with a straw.
