Apple Spice Cake

So here’s an actual drunk post1 because I made the first one, photographed it, and decided it needed a half ounce more of spiced rum, so I made another. It was indeed better, but I’m pretty sure this post will be on the strange side. No worries, the drink looks the same as it does in the pics – it’s just better.

And what’s better than better?

Drinking on a Sunday morning.

I think the last time I drank on a Sunday morning was at my wedding because it was a full Southern weekend event with a BBQ on Friday, Ceremony/Party on Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday with full mimosa bar.

I’m not a big “wedding” person, and after being with my husband for 5½ years prior to getting married, it was a bit of a joke to me because we were already in it for life. However, I love parties, particularly when they surround me, the incredible narcissist, but I’m not a total dick. I knew/know weddings are for other people, so I created the wedding I always wanted to attend.

There was open bar, a dance floor, plated meal (because buffets are gross in my opinion because I trust no one), karaoke, and a VERY BRIEF ceremony. We didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen because it would have been hard to choose, and we didn’t want to make anyone have to dress special for the occasion.

Everything generally went well except for the plus-one of a friend. Now I wouldn’t normally rag on any plus one publicly, but they’re thankfully broken up. And he’s a total douche.

Anyway, he’s one of those types who gets super nervous in social situations and then compensates with talking (and talking and talking and…). I went outside for a quick breather after a Romy & Michele dance tribute. Because these are the things you do when you think you’re funny. So I was outside, and he must have spotted me and came to harass me when I was wanting a 5 minute break alone to take account of things.

Jabber, jabber, jabber.

I eventually excused myself 2 minutes into the break, and about 30 minutes later, I shit you not, he’s up on the karaoke singing “Riders on the Storm” by The Doors. For those of you who don’t know the song or don’t quite comprehend why it was horrific, the song is like 15 minutes long and almost constant repetition of: “Riders on the storm… guitar solo…. riders on the storm… keyboard solo…” And there’s no freakin’ way to dance to it!!!

I suppose I should be grateful that that was the biggest uggggggghhhhhhh moment of the weekend, but please, PLEASE, if you do karaoke at your wedding, do not allow any songs by The Doors. Ever.

Back on topic…

The reason I’m drunk is because I was inspired by Martha Stewart’s Apple Spice Cake, and even if I do say so myself, it’s fucking awesome.

Cheers and beers!

1Apparently I’m pretty good at drunk posting because I had my husband edit this, and he said that it was still comprehensible. LOL!

Recipe:

In an 8 oz glass filled with ice, pour 1 oz 99 Apples, 1 oz Spiced Rum, ½ oz Pecan Liqueur, and ½ Wedding Cake Vodka.

Serve with a straw and commence to get drunk!
