Rosemary Orange Pound Cake

Last night my husband and I made cheeseburger soup, and it was strange and weird and wonderful. It was something we’d heard about on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and of course, there was no recipe which doesn’t discourage us from trying. It was basically a cheese soup with ground beef, tomatoes, and fresh coleslaw (uncooked), and I think we’ll need to finesse it a bit to get it absolutely right.

For our slow cooker pasta, we recently won a first prize on Instructables, and the goodies arrived this morning which was great although the doorbell got slightly jammed when the Fedex guy pushed it. Thankfully, it only needed a push in the other direction. Phew! I think we’ll be using the gear to make Cheeseburger Soup 2.0.

Anyway, one of my favorite pound cakes is rosemary orange, and if I’m in a bind and need to bring something to a party or whatever, I immediately pull out my ingredients, grease and flour a loaf pan, and clear counter space because when I bake, it’s on! There are going to be bowls and flour and mixers everywhere, and I need a little elbow room. Thankfully, this cocktail requires far less labor.

Recipe:

In a 12 oz glass, muddle a few rosemary leaves with ½ tsp of sugar.

Fill glass with crushed ice and pour 1 oz butterscotch schnapps and 1 oz white rum.

Top with orange juice.

Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and serve with a straw.

  1. That cheeseburger soup sounds good. I want to try some. You got me craving pound cake now! Rosemary orange sounds lovely! I love herb flavor with citrusy ingredients. Btw, were you ever a bartender before? Seems like you would’ve made an awesome one with your creative ideas.

    • It was very good. I think we’re going to do it again this weekend, and maybe I’ll do a post? Dunno.

Nope, I’ve never been a bartender, and I’m sure most bartenders would make fun of me. 😛
