Stewed Apples

True Story of Brevity: I like Cracker Barrel (aka Crackie Barrel), and I’m not ashamed.

I love their breakfast menu, particularly when feeling sick or hung-over, and I love their chicken ‘n’ dumplings which has become my basis for measuring how good other chicken ‘n’ dumplings are (don’t judge!). While my husband has tried repeatedly to replicate them, he’s yet to succeed although he’s managed to replicate (and improve) Campbell’s Vegetable Soup.

One of the fun things about their dinner and breakfast menus is that you can always get stewed apples as a side which is quite fun if you need a little fruit and sweetness to go with your meal, or maybe you want to dump them on your pancakes. Amazing comfort food!

So if you’re in need of a comforting beverage (I’m not here to judge), maybe today’s cocktail will be that gentle hug for your stomach and taste buds, and as a bonus, it can be done as a chilled cordial, a shooter, or just poured over ice in a rocks glass. The flavor is strong and succinct and exactly like stewed apples. Yum!
